October 2026: The FM Atlas
The first domain site: facility management, mapped. What the disciplines are, how they relate, and where the evidence for each of them actually sits.
Insights
The measurement, the assumptions and the limits: written down where anyone can check them. Not thought leadership; the working notes of a research practice that has been running since 2001. Twenty-two pieces so far.
Twenty-two pieces so far, each one stating the method behind any figure it quotes.
Fourteen shorter pieces on what we are seeing in the data and where the field is arguing with itself.
Czytaj dalejFive longer treatments of a single method or decision, written to be circulated internally.
Czytaj dalejOne so far, from the benchmark dataset, with method and sample stated.
Czytaj dalejKnowledge in this field is scattered across vendor blogs, closed consultancies and paywalled journals. Workplace Codex is our answer to that: a set of domain sites that open up one knowledge area each, published rather than gated.
The first domain site: facility management, mapped. What the disciplines are, how they relate, and where the evidence for each of them actually sits.
The second domain site, opening up the strategy side: the methods, the models and the decisions they serve.
The index above them: one entry point to every domain, with consistent definitions across all of them.
The FM Atlas opens in October 2026 at thefmatlas.com, open and without registration. The two sites above it are in development and have no address yet — we would rather say that than publish a link that does not open.
Alongside what we publish ourselves, the IFMEC Academy library opens up forty years of research into Building, People and Services. A body of work begun by Leo Laanen in 1986, eight years before IFMEC was founded, and largely absent from the open web.
Research into Building, People and Services, collected since 1986 and accessible through the Academy.
