An unusual position for a software company: the instruments behind the platform are published, and they are taught and examined in IFMEC's accredited programmes. Your team can learn the method and then argue with a result on the method rather than on us. IFMEC is our partner, not our auditor — two of its management team are on the Workplaced payroll, and we say so here before anyone has to ask.

News · 1 September 2026: Workplaced partners with IFMEC
Workplaced and IFMEC have entered a lasting partnership. IFMEC was founded in 1994, on work Leo Laanen began in 1986, which is where the forty years of research into Building, People and Services behind the Academy comes from. The education activities Workplaced developed in house are being connected to IFMEC Academy's portfolio.
Leo Laanen continues as CEO of IFMEC, supported from 1 September 2026 by a broadened management team: Bram Aarntzen, Hans van Wuijckhuijse and Asaël Akkerman join the management of IFMEC, with Aarntzen taking the role of Course Director and van Wuijckhuijse that of Director Strategy & Research. Professor Nick Nunnington, co-founder and advisor of Workplaced, joins IFMEC's Advisory Board.
Together the two organisations will take the programmes international: a curriculum built in the Netherlands, taught in markets that are not.
Bram Aarntzen and Asaël Akkerman are on the Workplaced payroll, and we state that here rather than leaving it to be found. Appointments are a matter of public record, and naming the relationship is what makes everything else on this page credible. IFMEC is not presented anywhere as an independent third party validating Workplaced.

The logical connection between workplace strategy and facility management
It brings strategy, professional development and delivery closer together.
The partnership with IFMEC Academy is not a change of direction for Workplaced. It reinforces what the company already does. Facility management has always connected buildings, people and services, which are the domains a workplace strategy is carried out in.
At the same time, delivery of workplace strategy is moving inside more often, to internal facility teams. Their role grows with it, from operational delivery to directing the working environment. Connecting the practice, technology and insight of Workplaced to the knowledge and teaching experience of IFMEC Academy helps those teams take that responsibility on with method behind them.
The partnership runs along two addresses. The programmes sit at ifmecacademy.com; the knowledge domain, where the professional material is published, is thefmatlas.com. What is published there is open and needs no registration, because a discipline that keeps its knowledge behind a login does not develop.

Why is Workplaced involved with IFMEC?
Since 1 September 2026 Workplaced and IFMEC Academy have been in a lasting partnership. IFMEC was founded in 1994, on work Leo Laanen began in 1986, and its subject is Building, People and Services, which is where workplace strategy becomes operational.
Leo Laanen continues as CEO. Bram Aarntzen joins as Course Director, Hans van Wuijckhuijse as Director Strategy & Research, and Asaël Akkerman joins the management of IFMEC. Professor Nick Nunnington joins IFMEC's Advisory Board.
Is Workplaced becoming an FM consultancy?
No. Workplaced stays on workplace intelligence, strategy, products and data. IFMEC adds the professional education, which is a different business with a different history.
What is the difference between IFMEC and Workplaced?
IFMEC runs the education: qualifications, masterclasses, Post-BSc, MSc and MBA, issued by IFMEC at ifmecacademy.com. Workplaced brings the platform, technology and reach behind the next stage of it.
